On Wednesday 27th February, the Coalition for Global Prosperity were delighted to co-host a private lunch with Johnny Mercer MP in the House of Lords on the intersections of defence and development.

The lunch was kindly chaired by Chief Executive of The Halo Trust Major General James Cowan, and began with opening remarks from our guest of honour, the Lord Richards of Herstmonceux, and co-host Johnny Mercer MP.

Major General James Cowan (CEO, The Halo Trust), Theo Clarke (CEO, The Coalition for Global Prosperity), Johnny Mercer MP, and The Rt Hon Sir Malcolm Rifkind QC

The discussion brought together senior military, development and diplomatic actors to discuss how best to leverage British expertise in both defence and development and how to coordinate these efforts to meet current multidimensional threats and protect lives.

Well-coordinated and aligned defence, development and diplomatic activities ensure that Britain remains an effective force for good and helps to make the world safer, healthier and better off.
