Wendy has represented Aldridge-Brownhills in the House of Commons since 2015 and currently serves as the Shadow Minister of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs. She was the first female MP for the constituency and remains its only MP to have held a government ministerial role.
Before entering Parliament, Wendy began her career in the Diplomatic Service at the Foreign Office. She later worked in sales and marketing and co-founded an electronics design and manufacturing company.
During her parliamentary career, Wendy has held several ministerial positions, including Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Justice, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for European Neighbourhood and the Americas, and Minister of State for Transport. In 2022, she became the first female Conservative Chief Whip in the House of Commons.
