Global Affairs Parliamentary Programme (GAPP)
What is the Global Affairs Parliamentary Programme?
The Global Affair Parliamentary Programme is a cross-party parliamentary advisory programme, aimed at supporting parliamentarians with informed engagement on international development, diplomacy and defence.
At a time when attitudes towards the benefits of overseas spending in the United Kingdom are poor, it is more important than ever that parliamentarians are well-equipped to speak persuasively and precisely about this vital issue.
Senior Policy Advisors are seconded into parliamentary offices to provide essential research, briefings and network support for the parliamentarians. The programme enables this cohort of parliamentarians to speak with authority on development, diplomacy and defence in Parliament, in the media and in public debate, drawing on up-to-date research and critical insights.
