Future Leaders Essay Collection 2025

In January 2026, CGP launched its 2025 Future Leaders Essay Collection. This compilation of work, produced by our cohort of Future Leaders, marks the culmination of what has been an incredibly successful year for the programme.

The start of the year has seen significant geopolitical turbulence, to say the least, but the essays produced by our Future Leaders have cut through the noise, offering thoughtful and insightful reflections on the trends and issues facing world leaders today. Tasked with writing on one of the three themes - ‘The New World Order’, ‘The 3Ds: Defence, Development, Diplomacy’ and ‘Global Cooperation’ - CGP was impressed by the breadth of approaches taken by the cohort. Essays ranged from analyses of the role of diplomacy in the India-Pakistan conflict to rethinking the global governance of AI.

However, this essay collection does not stand in isolation. Over the past six months, this cohort has developed their insight and knowledge through a carefully curated programme. During residential policy retreats at Windsor Castle and Kelmarsh Hall, Future Leaders engaged with political heavyweights, prominent policymakers, military leaders, speechwriters and diplomats, all of whom shared valuable experience and advice - equipping them with the skills needed to navigate the many challenges they will face as Members of Parliament.

A visit to Jordan was another highlight of the programme. Members of the cohort met Jordanian government and military officials, parliamentarians, refugees and NGOs working to ensure that Jordan remains a beacon of stability amid a volatile region. Understanding how development and security are inherently interlinked sat at the heart of these visits.

Marking the end of the 2025 programme, we were delighted to welcome past and present Future Leaders, policymakers and parliamentarians to launch the essay collection. It was a particular pleasure to welcome our speakers, Rt Hon Dame Penny Mordaunt DBE, Chair of the Coalition for Global Prosperity, The Baroness Curran, former Minister of State at the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero, and His Excellency Ambassador Manar Dabbas, Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the UK, who each offered their own unique and valuable insight into their experiences.
